TJI: Last of the Summer Stone Fruit from the Sierras
As the summer season starts to transition, peaches and nectarines from the valley are beginning to peter out… but never fear! Summer is not over yet! We’ve still got 2.5 weeks until the autumnal equinox and the peaches from Ron Mansfield at Goldbud Farms and Marchini Ranch in the Sierra foothills are still going strong.
In the words of produce expert Bill Fujimoto, “Ron Mansfield has been growing for 30 years and packing the best mountain fruit for at least 20. He packs fruit at the limit of maturity and his fruit flavor is superb. The O’Henry and Cal Red peaches from Goldbud have unmatched flavor when picked ripe.”
Pastry Chef Jenny Raven just received a box of Goldbud’s O’Henry peaches and they’ll be on the menu starting tonight & for the next few days:
Warm O’Henry peaches with red wine swirl ice cream and noyau amaretti crumbs
Come celebrate these last days of summer with something simple and sublime.
